Continued drought in Norfolk
Monday February 27th, 2023
East Anglia remains in drought, with 63% of England’s rivers below normal levels.
Winter is normally a time for water resource recharge; river flows increase and reservoirs, groundwater and on-farm winter storage areas refill. Instead, we’ve had an exceptionally dry month, meaning that above average rainfall is urgently required to recover river and groundwater levels by the end of this winter.
This is very concerning news for food production, water availability and wildlife.
What can you do?
We all need to be using our water carefully throughout the year. Ultimately, what we use now will impact water availability for ourselves and nature.
