Ingoldisthorpe wetland has its first BioBlitz
Thursday July 25th, 2019
To mark a year since the creation of the Ingoldisthorpe wetland, a BioBlitz was held on the 22nd of July with Anglian Water to discover which species have made this flourishing site home.
Joined by the British Dragonfly Society, Verdant Solutions and the children of Ingoldisthorpe Primary School, a large variety of butterflies, dragonflies, plants, invertebrates and birds were spotted including green-veined whites, wild carrot, freshwater shrimps, yellowhammers and a spotted flycatcher. Very excitingly, footage of a water vole was also recorded using trail cams.
The day was a huge success, further highlighting what a win-win natural water treatment can be for people, wildlife and the planet. We can’t wait to repeat the event over the coming years, as the wetland continues to amaze and inspire us.
