Riffles for Wiveton
Riffles for Wiveton
In 2012 and 2013, Norfolk Rivers Trust part-funded a project by the Environment Agency and the River Glaven Angling Association to restore a section of the River Glaven upstream of Wiveton. The team constructed new gravel riffles on the once-dredged river bed to improve flow diversity, and created areas of wet terrace to enable floodplain plants and insects to thrive.
In 2014, the site was looking spectacular – the riffles were full of invertebrates and were being colonised by aquatic plants.
