‘Fixing our food system’, the Courtauld 2025 Annual Report
Tuesday November 10th, 2020
The Courtauld 2025 Annual Report has just been released, featuring action from voluntary Courtauld signatories – including businesses and the supply chain – to reduce food waste, greenhouse gases and water stress. This comes at a time when the pandemic has demonstrated how collective action is crucial in overcoming challenging situations. Read the report here.
As an organisation, we are proud to be play a key role in implementing on-ground action for the Courtauld 2025 Water Ambition, through our Water Sensitive Farming Initiative. This work has mainly taken place in two key sourcing areas for food and drink: the Broadland Rivers and CamEO catchments.
So far, demonstrable highlights include the delivery of 630ha of land management improvements (cover crops, buffer strips & tree and hedge planting) and the creation of 43 water interventions e.g. silt traps and wetlands. Overall, these actions have replenished more than 750 million litres of water back to nature since July 2018 – the equivalent of 300 Olympic-sized swimming pools! View our latest case study, featuring work in the Broadland Rivers Catchment to reduce diffuse pollution.
