Creating a diverse and complex habitat to slow the flow
In November 2020, we delivered a Water Sensitive Farming project in the Wensum catchment to improve water and habitat quality.
The work will “slow the flow” of water coming through the farm drainage system to enable the sediment to settle out, and form a new braided channel through the woodland.
A new sediment accumulation pond was dug (as seen in this time-lapse), the ditch was widened, leaky log dams were installed, and the woodland was improved to create open glades and a wet habitat.
